Friday, May 13th: You never know what you’ll see at a morning meeting at AVS! Science experiments, discussions about friendship and respect, songs about states or parts of speech…but a flash mob?! Maybe Friday the 13th had something to do with it. After Casey led a valuable discussion about empathy, all of a sudden “Imma Be” (clean version) by the Black Eyed Peas blared over the sound system. Miss Abbie, AVS PE & Dance Instructor extraordinaire, suddenly started dancing. Dance class, JK and 2nd Grade students jumped up, too, and followed her dance moves with huge enthusiasm. Move over Fergie!
No one but the students and Miss Abbie knew this was coming, so it was a bit of surprise at first. After a few seconds, one look around the room said it all: the rest of the kids had grins all over their faces as the kids gyrated, put their arms in the air and got down on the floor to the Black Eyed Peas. What an awesome way to start the day.
